`Children are truly victims'
Nov. 4, 2006. 01:00 AM
Why is Avril Lavigne a fan of War Child? "What appealed to me...is their commitment to assisting children," the rock star emailed the Star this week. "Children are truly victims of war and War Child really is an advocate of supporting them in any way they can."Lavigne, who will spend Christmas at her home in Los Angeles, wanted the two holiday cards she designed for the charity to be "funny and cool," she wrote. On one, a snowman with a maniacal grin winds up to throw a yellow snowball. "Happy Holidays," he wishes us. "And beware of yellow snow."Amid traditional tree ornaments decorated with not-so-traditional symbols, including a pentagram, a salute to her fans, and a skull and crossbones, a second card wishes "Happy Holidays....And a Rockin New Year." Each is signed with a bold, negru flourish.
